Titans in-game notes from Titans Online

We had a blast again watching this game from our seats here at the LP Field last night...............The performance was very entertaining and we were cranking it up loud in the south end zone..................Titans win....34-13

VINCE YOUNG TAKES OFF: Late in the first quarter, quarterback Vince Young converted a third-and-nine with a 35-yard run. That was his longest run in a preseason or regular season game since a 36-yard touchdown run at Buffalo on Dec. 24, 2006. Young’s game totals also included three completions and 17 yards on six passing attempts.

CHRIS JOHNSON WOWS IN DEBUT: First-round pick Chris Johnson wasted little time getting noticed in his first preseason outing. Johnson, who entered the game for the first time late in the first quarter, took a handoff in the second quarter up the middle 66 yards for a touchdown. Johnson totaled six carries for 77 yards in the game.

BULLUCK FINDS END ZONE: Linebacker Keith Bulluck put the Titans on the board with a 13-yard interception return for a touchdown in the first quarter. It was his first touchdown in a preseason game since a 29-yard interception return for a touchdown against Tampa Bay on Aug. 12, 2005. During his regular season career, Bulluck has scored five total touchdowns – four on fumble returns and one on an interception return.

SECOND-ROUND PICK JONES RECEIVES START, MAKES PRESENCE FELT: Second-round draft pick Jason Jones received a start at left defensive tackle due to Tony Brown’s injury. The former Eastern Michigan standout made his presence felt almost immediately. On the Rams’ second offensive series, Jones tackled running back Brian Leonard at the Rams’ two-yard line for a three-yard loss. On the next play, linebacker Keith Bulluck intercepted a pass and returned the ball 13 yards for a touchdown.

STARTERS’ PLAYING TIME: Against the Rams, Titans starters played all of the first quarter and some into the second quarter. Quarterback Vince Young played two series before giving way to back-up Kerry Collins at the 12:55 mark in the second quarter. Collins played into the third quarter until Ingle Martin entered the game at the 7:38 mark in the third quarter.

THREE BIG RUNS PAY DIVIDENDS: In the first three quarters of the game, the Titans had three runs of 35 yards or more, and those runs led to a total of 17 points: quarterback Vince Young recorded a 35-yard run that led to a field goal in the first quarter; Rookie Chris Johnson sprinted 66 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter; and first-year running back Quinton Ganther raced 45 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.
