This week’s game is the second of Tennessee’s annual two-game series with the Texans, who joined the NFL and the AFC South in their expansion campaign of 2002. In Week 3 (Sept. 21), the Titans defeated the Texans 31-12 at LP Field. Cornerback Cortland Finnegan highlighted the afternoon with a 99-yard interception return for a touchdown, helping the Titans earn their seventh consecutive victory over the Texans and their 11th win in 13 all-time meetings.

TITANS CAPTURE DIVISION CROWN
With a 28-9 victory over the Cleveland Browns last week, the Titans improved to 12-1 and captured the AFC South crown. The division championship is their ninth in the 49-year history of the club and their first since 2002. The Indianapolis Colts, winners of six consecutive games, are in second place in the division with a 9-4 record, while the Texans have won their last three games to move into third place at 6-7. The Jacksonville Jaguars are in fourth place at 4-9. Not only did the Titans secure the division title last week, they clinched a first-round bye in the playoffs when the New York Jets (8-5) lost at San Francisco. The Titans, assured of having one of the AFC’s top two seeds, now are in a race for homefield advantage with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are 10-3 and in first place in the AFC North. The Steelers visit LP Field next week.
